On Sunday, May 31st, community members will gather on both sides of the Trestle Trail Bridge beginning at 6:30 p.m

At 7 p.m., there will be a brief invocation, then people will be asked to walk onto the bridge from either side until both sides meet in the middle

Hands will be joined and raised during a moment of silence in honor of the lives lost. Nearby churches are asked to ring their bells at 7:33 p.m.; immediately following, boaters and kayakers in the surrounding water will collectively sound their horns as another sign of community strength and support.

Program Speakers:

Danny Leavins, Pastor at Calvary Bible Church

Don Merkes, mayor of the City of Menasha

Dale Youngquist, chairman of the Town of Menasha

Police Chief Tim Styka, city of Menasha

Shuttle service begins at 5PM and will continue throughout the event. Last shuttle will be 8:45PM. We strongly encourage you to use these locations because parking close to the parks on either side of the bridge is extremely limited!

A significantly large crowd is expected to attend the event, so we ask that you have patience as we shuttle people to and from parking locations. Please be prepared for some downtime!

Menasha Marina is organizing a ‘walk’ from the Marina to the Trestle Bridge for the event. Contact Diane (Harbor Master) at the marina for more information: (920) 967-5193

Faith Technologies, 225 Main St Menasha, has opened its parking lot; this is not a shuttle stop but is within walking distance from the Germainia Hall stop.

How Can You Help?

  • Share this event with your family and friends
  • Print and share flyer (under For the Media tab)
  • Use #handsoverthefox on social media
  • Organize neighborhood walks or carpools to the event to help avoid parking/traffic congestion
  • Community First Credit Union and Fox Communities Credit Union have established a fund for the Stoffel family and their children, Ezra and Selah, as well as accounts in Adam Bentdahl's name. The community can make donations at any Community First Credit Union or Fox Communities Credit Union branch. All funds received will go directly to the family.
  • Calvary Bible Church and Fox Valley Christian Academy have established a memorial fund where 100% of donations will be given to the Stoffel family. Link here.
  • US Venture is establishing an EdVest 529 college savings plans for Ezra, age 7, and Selah, age 5. US Venture will be making a contribution to Ezra and Selah's funds and will also administer any gifts given with 100% of the contribution going directly to these funds. It is through these scholarship funds, that both children will be able to attend technical or four-year colleges to pursue whatever careers they choose. Our hope is to wrap our arms around the family and continue to be a support to them for many years to come.

You can contribute to Ezra and Selah's funds by writing a check to US Venture with Stoffel Fund in the memo. US Venture will then contribute the funds into the EdVest accounts. Checks can be mailed to: 425 Better Way, Appleton, WI 54915
  • We encourage local business leaders to promote the Hands Over the Fox event to their employees, clients and broader community to ensure that everyone in the Fox Valley who wants to can participate in this opportunity for togetherness and healing
  • We have marketing material (i.e. logo, event details, etc.) to make it easy to promote the event (ideas include using external marquees to promote, share via various internal communication channels, promote on social media channels, etc.)
  • The best way for area businesses to help with Hands Over the Fox is to offer parking alternatives at your location or organize group walks to the Trestle Trail Bridge that evening
